by Barbara Culwell (Claire’s Mom)
In the last year since we have learned more about Claire’s (“Lauren Claire” to me) miraculous story we are in awe of God and his goodness to each of us in regards to Lauren Claire and her life. This week I have been reading through my journals from the time we were waiting and hoping for a baby and specifically the dates when she was in the womb.
So many thoughts are swirling through my head as I reflect on that time our life and now I see even more of God’s faithfulness.
One of my entries on May 9, 1988 (she had been home with us for 5 days):
“We have our sweet little girl at home! I can’t believe it! She is precious! The morning we went to the hospital to get her I woke so early like the day I got married…. so grateful and humbled to be embarking on a new chapter of life!”
May 10th:
“She is SOOOOOOO precious! I can’t believe she is ours!!
I still can’t believe it!! God is so good!

Such an amazing story! Your story brings tears of both joy and sadness to my eyes, seemingly at the same time! I will keep you in my prayers! Thank you for sharing!
Love in Him,
Tammie!
I had quite a few people send me Claire’s story and words can’t describe what I felt while reading it. I have always been Pro Life, but due to a hysterectomy as a result of endometrial cancer last year, I am more Pro Life than ever before. We are in the adoption process and pray everyday that a woman will make the choice to adopt over abort so that we can become parents. My prayers are with you and your family and God bless Claire in her journey to spread awareness.
We are so grateful for God’s incredible gift He has given us with both of our girls. Adoption is such a tangible expression of God making good out of what seems not good. I am excited for you Lisa and to see how and when you will receive the baby God has for you all!
Claire, your story makes me sooo incredibly sad, but at the same time, so incredibly happy!! God is GOOD!!!! Thank you so much for standing up for the unborn. I cannot believe how many people think that abortion is ok, or that the babies do not feel pain. Really? Are they the ones being aborted? I LOVE animals, do not get me wrong, but why is it not ok to kick a pregnant dog, but it’s just fine and dandy to kill a living human being? I do not grasp this concept.
God Bless you and your family on this journey!!! You’re an amazing soul!!!!
Love and hugs from Denver,
Michael
Hi Barbara,
You may not remember me, but someone posted your daughter’s video on Facebook and when I saw the picture at the end, I thought, “I recognize those people.” Then when I saw the name, it came back to me – you came to Costa Rica when we were there. What a beautiful girl Lauren Claire has grown up to be! And what an amazing story! We have been in Spain ever since we left Costa Rica.
What are you up to these days?
